Katherine’s most valued and important work experience is being a Mom, she’s the Project Manager of her family. This position is 24-7!
Katherine graduated Valedictorian of her High School. Katherine earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Georgia with a Major in Psychology and a Minor in French. Katherine then earned her Masters degree in Counseling with a focus on Rehabilitation from the University of South Carolina, School of Medicine, Dept. of Neuropsychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Katherine has over thirty (30) years of experience in counseling, mediation, supervision, career and vocational counseling and coaching experience. Katherine has been a North Carolina Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a National Certified Counselor since 1999, as well as a North Carolina Licensed Mental Health Counselor Supervisor since 2011.
Katherine was a business owner of a part-time private counseling practice for twenty years which focused on mental health, addictions, prevention, counseling and intervention services.
Katherine currently is employed with the North Carolina Judicial Branch as a Custody Mediator focusing on applying effective counseling, mediation and conflict resolution skills in order to help parties resolve unresolved issues about their minor children and to prevent re-litigation. For the past 24 years, Katherine has worked as a Custody Mediator serving families and children in Gaston, Mecklenburg, Lincoln, and Cleveland counties while working and collaborating with District and Family Court Judges, attorneys, Sheriff deputies, court staff, Dept. of Social Services, Domestic Violence advocates and other community agencies.
COMMITTEES: Beginning in July 2024, Katherine began serving on the Gaston County North Carolina Child Fatality Prevention Team in the position of At Large or County Agency Rep. appointed by Chad Brown, Chair of Gaston County Board of Commissioners.
Katherine also served on the North Carolina Judicial Branch Family Court Advisory Committee appointed by Chief Justice Sarah Parker from September 2006 – June 2009.
These committees require collaboration with various different stake holders working towards a common goal.
